Plan on shooting in the South American jungles on a 8 passenger heli with the 170. Any advice on stabilizers? rentals? Don't have a huge budget. Thanks

Really there are only 3 options with a helicopter shoot.

Gyro Nose mount camera - the best. This feeds the signal into the copter to a recorder of your selection.

A inside gyro mounted cam shooting out the side door.

Hand held. Will have a shake to it.

Bungee cord- seen it used to amazing effect on poor man's helicopter shoots.

I've shot hundreds of hours with both mounts and hand held. One thing you might consider is getting a GoPro and just strap on the skids, which worked for me a couple of times. You have to tell the pilot to go tree top at 40-50 knots.

Also, the 170 works great hand held if you ask the pilot to jump up to 2500 feet and then fall back down. That reduces the vibration considerably and gives you the look of a hot air balloon.

Patrick, thanks for the tip. I had thought about the HD pro mounted to the skids. How did you mount?

One issue for me is, I'm along for the ride. I won't be able to ask the pilot to fly and my speed. (I'm not paying he pilot)
