AVC HD to P2 converter

Is there a free yet effective AVC HD to P2 file converter out there? There used to be one on the Main Concepts site, but I just checked and it's been taken down.

Help!

Never heard of such a thing. Converter for what? To record AVCHD onto a P2 card? Why record onto more expensive media than SD or CF cards? P2 is a recording media....it records DVCPRO HD or AVCIntra. So...what are you trying to do?

I have video on a AVC HD card: two MTS clips at 50mi and 57min.

I want to bring them into Avid MC 3.01 .

my Avid likes P2 files, so i'd like to convert the files to P2 on an external drive.

[Hugh Haynie] "my Avid likes P2 files"

Your Avid like MXF files...that the P2 cards record to. The only way I know to do this is to play out from one camera to another, or play out to a P2 Gear or P2 Mobile. No file conversion I have heard of.

I don't have a P2 camera or card.

video was recorded on a panasonic camera that records to AVC HD.

more specifically the file types are .MTS .

unless there is a better idea, i want to get the files to a P2 type format that i know the avid will like.

Yeah, Hugh, that main concept thing seems to have recently stopped being offered.

You can use ClipWrap to make an Avid DNxHD mov if you want.

I should add it's not free, but cheap.

You can import AVCHD with Log & Transfer in FCP as ProRes, then place into an AVC-Intra timeline and export to P2. You would need two products from us, AVC-Intra QT and MXF Export Suite that includes the P2 exporter.
