Is breaking up the contents folder OK?;
on May 18, 2010 at 11:42:44 am

Instinctively I'm thinking no, but I thought I'd better ask, it's a continuation of my transfer problem, I was wondering if I can break up the contents folder, or more to the point the video folder, within the contents and send it in pieces?

Many thanks

Leave the Contents folder intact. Do not touch anything. You been told over and over again the correct workflow. Live it and learn it. Other alternative, hire someone who is technical.

If this is at all related, send them the firestore.

You're right Steve, I have been told but I thought I would double check; having a nightmare getting this footage to them, should have used the firestore then I could have sent them a series of 2gb files. Look's like it's going to be Fedex.

many thanks

You can use P2CMS to Ingest individual clips (which then become their own contents folder), or select a group of clips and export them to a new P2 Folder.

Make it easy for yourself- I keep a stack of Flash drives on my desk. They're super cheap, easy to fedex and you can request they be sent back when they're done. Don't kill yourself trying to send out individual files or futzing with FTP- this is what FedEx is for.

This is also very simple P2 workflow if you understand it and follow the proper procedures.

It all begins with investing in P2 cards which are very inexpensive these days.

[Jeremy Garchow] "You can use P2CMS to Ingest individual clips (which then become their own contents folder), or select a group of clips and export them to a new P2 Folder."

I'm gonna second Jeremey here - get P2CMS, open the card you want, select a number of clips and chose Export to make a new Contents folder with just the selected clips.
