Shotput offload times....

Just trying to get an idea of average offload times. Ours seem long. Offloading a 50 GB P2 card through a Panasonic PCD-20 reader. Targeting three drives (one G-Raid (7200 rpm) and two Lacie Ruggeds (5400 rpm).

Reader is connected via FW 800, G-raid USB 2.0, one Rugged via FW 400 and the other via USB 2.0.

Initially chose "file contents" verification (multi-thread mode) and the G-Raid was just over two hours and the Ruggeds over three hours.
Spoke to Imagine and they said to change to single thread...same times give or take.

In the process of one now with "file size" verfication (same drives) (multi-thread) and the G-Raid was 2 hours and the Ruggeds are still going.

Are these numbers way off or close?

Card is 64 GB Fuji E series.

Machine is a MacBookPro (2.6 GHZ Intel Core 2 Duo, 4 GB RAM and 75 GB of available HD space.)

you are writing to three drives at once. It's going to slow things down, especially since you have the fw800 bus effectively being slowed down to the speed of your fw400 drive. Try going just to the USB drives and see if that speeds up. Also, file contents verification will slow it down as well as it is checking the footage byte for byte, on all three of your drives.

Normally it takes us around 12 min to offload a 16GB card with verification - around 8 min without. Jeremy is absolutely correct about the transfer being slowed down to the speed of the slowest drive. That happened to us once.
