Well this was my first time shooting with the HVX and i shot it at 720 60p with the operation type set at video cam and the ND filter at 1/8.. i recieved alot of grain in the video like a ton. and all of the gains were set to 0.. here is a link to the video. http://vimeo.com/10025371

could someone please help me get the right settings for this. i was getting better quality video with my canon hf100.

What shutter speed? If gain is off and the shot is very noisy it typically indicates underexposure. Also- it's really hard to tell from Vimeo whether grain is in the original footage or side effect of web compression. But I'd guess you underexposed a tiny bit.

Did you use your zebras? What about the spot metering? All this stuff comes with practice. Also having a monitor with waveform...

May I ahem- respectfully suggest you look through the manual a bit more? :) Zebras help you gauge your exposure by specifically telling you which areas of your frame are overexposed. Here's the basics on Zebras:

Mastering them is key to getting your shots to look right. I've also got a couple of courses that can help:

http://www.callboxlive.com/products/barry-greens-hvx-book (this one is more camera operation specific)
