Transferring P2 data to Imac

I have always shot on tape in my HVX 200. I got a card and tried to transfer the video through firewire to my Imac. But the camera would not show up on my desk top. I ended up having to tranfer the video onto tape and log and capture it that way. When I turn on the camera, shouldn't the camera appear as a drive? Like a thumb drive? What am I missing here?

Bob,

this too freaked me out.

Make sure when you plug your usb in and when turning the camera on, you hit the mode button twice until you are in pc-dub mode.

you should get a message on the screen saying there is a secure connection.

Also, make sure you do this before entering an NLE. Sometimes it just takes a reload for secure sync.

Hope this helps

PS: Do you know how to overcrank/undercrank with the hvx200?
when i ingest the content that is 60i, its plays back as if it is at a normal frame-rate when in FCP.

Is there an internal application i am missing?

I'm trying to transfer using a firewire cable. It works when I log and capture tape. But I can't get the P2 to show up. And, I'm, sorry, bnut I'm pretty new to video so don't know anything about overcrank or undercranking!

All your answers are in the manual. If you don't have the manual, you can find it online. You need to set the camera to 1394 (firewire) Device.

You need to press the mode button once, wait for the thumbnails to come up, and then press and hold the mode button. This will allow the camera to come up at as a drive on your mac via firewire.
