From Panasonic:

A driver package compatible with the Mac OS 10.6 is now available.

[The package contains]
- IEEE1394b driver for AJ-PCD20 series
- PCI Express (PCIe) driver for AJ-PCD35 series
- P2 card formatter for Mac

A P2 driver for past Mac OS versions (10.4 & 10.5) is still separately
available. Please use the appropriate driver for the OS version you own.

[Download the latest Mac OS driver]

That is not related to this driver release. You need a driver from Duel as well.

My pcd20 is working great under SL now.

That is awesome, but for me PCD20= $999, DuelAdapter =$60.

Any place that has it cheaper?

Not that I know of. If you shoot a lot of P2, the PCD20 will make up the money in time lost transferring cards in one shoot or two. The PCD20 is a 5 card reader as is supported by Panasonic, the duel is a one card reader that has a rocky track record. Also, where are you finding it for $999? It's $1899

I am also looking forward to the Sonnet Qio, whenever that gets released.

Sorry buddy. I was looking at http://www.sonnettech.com/product/qio.html like you were. This looks like a great product too! eSata will give us faster transfer rates! Sorry for the confusion!

I saw reference to this on a couple of forums shortly after Snow Leopard was released but I don't have first-hand confirmation: Duel apparently stated that they will not support Snow Leopard AT ALL. They are not working on drivers and will not be doing so in the future. I'm afraid if you want to upgrade you'll have to find another workflow for offloading footage.

installed my New Sonnet QIO to my MacBook Pro. I can get reasonably fast down load time to my G-Tech G-Safe via Firewire 800. 16Gb P2 card in 11 minutes. But when using one of the eSATA ports on the QIO the transfer time drops to a drastic three hours.

Any ideas. Could it be a fault on the QIO or could it be something to do with my Snow Leopard 10.6.4.

We have the Panasonic AJ-PCD35 card reader. Worked great until we upgraded to Mac OS X 10.6. Downloaded the P2 driver for 10.6 from panasonic and it works... kind of. The driver only works with the cards are in the reader when we boot the computer. If we boot the computer first and then put the cards in, the driver won't read them. Anyone else having this issue?

Yes, I cannot get it to mount on my desktop intel quad with 10.6.2 and it mounts fine on my laptop dual intel with 10.6.2???

The cards are viewable in disk utility (even with the little p2 icons) but when I go to mount them it says the cards are not supported. I have downloaded and installed the lates p2 driver to no avail.

ANY IDEAS WHY IT WOULD WORK ON ONE SYSTEM AND NOT ANOTHER WITH THE EXACT SAME SOFTWARE AND OS?

Joel

Can't get what to mount exactly?

Sorry,

I was responding to the prior post. I have an AJ-pdc20 card reader from Panasonic. It mounts the p2 cards great on my laptop but not on my desktop with the same system config, software, and OS.

I can see the P2 cards in disk utility but they will not mount. They even have the correct p2 icons in disk utility. When I try and mount the disc in disk utility says, "the disc could not be mounted, try running first aid"

Not gonna do that. Could potentially mess up the P2 info.

Re: .mxf preview unsupported for this format
on Mar 17, 2010 at 5:05:42 pm

Yeah, I wouldn't do that either. Try reinstalling the appropriate Snow Leopard drivers again from Panasonic. The PCD20 drivers come in the Mac driver download package.

Are you hooking up via fw or USB? If firewire, any other fw devices on your Mac?

Here's the link:

Did all of those things already. No other FW on the bus and tried the USB as well. No luck. I just plugged the thing into my laptop (same mac OS, FCP, drivers...) via FW800 and the cards popped right up. What gives?

From the Finder, choose preferences and then click the "General" tab. Make sure all the options are checked under "Show these items on the desktop".

Yeah, they are all checked. The p2 cards are seen in disk utility and won't mount. Panasonic told me that they are not experts in mac and since it works on one and not the other it must be my system not the unit.

Why would they show up in the utility with the correct icons and names and not be mountable???

It's a great question. In the same Finder prefs, click on the sidebar area and make sure everything is check there too in terms of external drives.

Yeah, I'm good with those as well. This sucks :(

Why does this stuff always happen at the worst time. It could have happened any time in the last two weeks and I'd be fine. But alas, the technology gnomes came to visit today. I can't recall if I have ever put this box on this mac. I think today was the first time.

Any other ideas????

Restart with everything plugged in.

What else is hooked up to the mac?

What other software do you have installed?

I have a matrox mx02 in one pcie slot, a tempo esata in another, and nothing else. The pcie slots should have no berring on the FW and OS ability to mount P2 cards though.

No strange software that I can think of.

OK. Then as a test, shut everything down. Turn off whatever is connected to your tempo card and unplug your MXO2, then restart.

There most definitely can be a driver conflict.

Hello There
I was reading your post from March 2010 re:ajpcd20 mounting with 10.6 and thought you may have some advice as I am having issues with my ajpcd20 that is inline with a power pc g5 2.3 running os 10.5.8.
The card reader worked fine before 32gig cards and since then I've installed new drivers several times and
have not been able to get the reader to read through FW only usb. I've reinstalled everything from OS to as I said drivers with the exception of the original disc that came with the ajpcd20 when I bought it 5 years ago. I've upgraded the firmware to the unit through a PC and still no success.
Can you help?
Thanks
Steve

[Steve Wong] "I've upgraded the firmware to the unit through a PC and still no success. "

Is it only 32GB cards that don't work?

Are you lopping the unit through another firewire device?

You have installed the Leopard compatible drivers and not the Snow Leopard drivers, correct?

[Steve Wong] "No snow L Tiger is my os 10.5.8 "

I understand, but you haven't mistakenly install the SL drivers have you?

I'm with Arthur, it is possible that the fw port is bad on the PCD20.

You should install Leopard drivers. Not TIger. Tiger is OS 10.4

Okay
Is there any other test I can perform on the FW port
before I send the unit in for service?
