What are you using to carry your HPX500 on the airlines now??
What cases (model number) do you use to fit HPX500 body, VF and lens.
and if you could show some pics of how you pack it that would be great also.

Thanks, Paul

P.S....cases for large 2/3 cameras only please.

We use a Porta Brace CO-BB we've had since 1993. We tried with the 500 as planes & overheads got smller and it's worked. It's a soft case. We've got it on small jets like theCanadaAir and Embraers. Not always above, but it fits under the seat.

I think the Porta Brace CO-BB is alittle to long now a days...
so i'm going to try the "CineBags CB-25 Revolution Backpack"
take the lens off and see if it fits.

I use the PortaBrace smuggler for our HDX-900 and have traveled the world with it. The lens and viewfinder need to be removed and put into the soft bags included with the purchase. When the case is in "travel" mode, it'll fit the new size-wise regulations. When you're off the plane, the rear panel and a side viewfinder panel expand to allow for a quick-draw style of lugging. When expanded and with our HDX-900 re-assembled with it Fuji zoom the camera is too long to fit in the case with battery attached - so we carry a battery in the side pocket.

I've done a lot of traveling this year. With some airlines my 500's Porta Brace case is just fine, but with others it's too big.

Here was my solution:
Cinebags CB25 Backpack
-Camera Body, VF, Shotgun, Accessories, Batteries
-Pelican case for the lens

Pelican case fits under the seat in front of me, backpack fits in the overhead. **However, this won't work on a smaller commuter plane.

Happy Travels.

Am I the only one crazy enough to air travel with a naked eng camera on a strap on my shoulder? Always has a battery and media with it in case the checkpoint guys want me to power it up. Takes up the least room that way, and is snug in an overhead. I'm usually with a lighting kit in a pelican case, so I throw all my camera accessories in there and check it.
