RAID in USB host mode

Anyone have experience hooking up one of the tiny USB powered RAIDS to their Panasonic in USB Host mode for the purpose of off-loading the contents of their cards onto a RAID 1? For example, there is the G-Raid mini2 that supposedly runs of bus power. But what if it's hooked up to the camera in USB Host mode. Does the camera support that? Or will I need to hook up power to the RAID? I'm thinking I want to travel as light as possible and therefore leaving the MBP at home.

I do understand that by doing this, I have no way to verify that everything copies correctly. Is this an issue? Does it happen often?

I would rather be safe than sorry. I would bring my MBP. Bus Power is supplied by FW port.
