Importing MXF into FCP
on Jun 1, 2009 at 12:51:56 am

Hello, I am having problems importing MXF files into my FCP.
I am running FCP 5.0, it has the p2 import option and the folder structure on the hard drive seems to be correct.
every time i try to bring the files in i get this message:
"one or more P2 clips failed to import; probable incomplete or corrupt clips"
Should i be changing my setting in final cut? should i be converting the clips before i bring them in?
if so what program can i get that will convert the MXF files into final cut friendly file?
Thanks sooo much for any advice you can give me

Hello, Gabrielle

In the worst case, if you cannot get to load those clips, you should try a movie clip repair.
Just copy the clips as files to your hard disk and run Treasured to see whether some footage can be salvaged.

[Gabrielle Dainard] "I am running FCP 5.0"

YOu need to be running at least FCP 5.0.4 and QT 7.1.6 in order to import P2 HD files.

Here...workflow for importing into FCP 5.0.4:
