settings help for shooting close up golf swings

I am going to be shooting some tee offs of golf swings and the shots are going to be a ms of the ball and about 6 inches of club shaft.

I am going to shoot at 29.97. Will a faster shutter speed allow me to get more of the golf swing?

Any other ideas golf related will be apprciated.

At 30fps the ball will just disappear, you won't see the club at all. We have shot at 300fps and the club is still fast, but at least you can see it. A golf club at full swing is traveling at 100's of mph. You will need a high speed camera to catch the action. Especially that close, the wider you are the more you will catch.

Sounds like a good reason to head to the driving range!

Don't anything about high speed video but here is my though on what you have.

I think I would at least shoot 720p60p, thinking that a progressive frame is going to be clearer than 2 interlaced frames. You will also need at least a 500th of a second or faster shutter speed to stop motion if you want a clear image, even faster would be better.

If it helps, I believe this commercial was shot around 1,000 frames per second using the PhantonHD.
