retrieving P2 contents from formatted cards

After 3 years of using P2 I finally made the unbelievable Error of formatting a P2 card in the camera before offloading its content...makes me crazy even to write that down...

Its there anything I can do to retrieve the content?

Thanks!

Slim...very slim. Call your nearest Panasonic HQ and see what they can do. They are the only people you should send the card to.

shoot... I was afraid of that obviously.

Thanks Shane.

So I've done a few searches for just such a department in Panasonic.

does anyone know where to contact one in California? I'm in Northern California but I would imagine I'm going to need to send this off to LA or something?

You could try running DataRescue II but like Shane says, the chances are slim. Even if you recovered the individual files by running DataRescue II it would be very difficult to get all the files back in the right place to have them do any good. Unfortunately, it looks like you should plan a reshoot.

Data Rescue worked on one clip that I did a test with, but the xml file was corrupted, and therefor no software would recognize/import/export/save the clip. Like Dave said, you MIGHT get the clips back, but it would be a veritable nightmare reconnecting them all. Although spending the time to attempt it might be a lesser bruise to the business ego than calling for a reshoot.

I was sworn to not give out the direct contact info... BUT there is good news!

A P2 card formatted in the camera and NOT overwritten can have magical pixie dust sprinkled on it and be reformatted to retrieve the lost content.

My advice though... DON'T ERASE THE P2 CARDS BEFORE YOU BACK IT UP!!!
