Downconvert via component out?

I've been reading the manual (gasp!) and it sounds like it is NOT possible to downconvert recorded HD to SD via component out. Can anyone confirm this? Thanks!

Why would you do this? You'd lose timecode... etc.

Try to tell me what you want to accomplish.

I do some work for an ad agency where everything is shot in DVCPRo HD and downconverted to Digibeta, then captured uncompressed for editing. I wish they would edit in DVCPro HD and downconvert as the last step, but hey, what do I know?!

We take the HD Analog Component cable from the camera to a AJA HD to SDI (HD) converter at the camera, then feed the SDI signal to the video Assist person who then uses the AJA SDI HD to Component SD converter. Video assist can then distribute a SD signal to all the monitors for viewing by clients and also for playback. We keep a HD monitor at the camera that the SDI cable loops through on the way to Video Assist. Both AJA mini converters work really well.
