Stutter with online playback of .flv-files
on Jul 28, 2012 at 11:38:36 am

I tend to get stuttering problems with .flv-playback from my website. In fact, I have been looking for an answer for about a year now… I need .flv because the file size always MUST be at a minimum without degrading video quality too much.

1. Video-files play normally locally using the VLC-player.

2. Video-files are unable to play back without stutter from my website.

3. The video on my website is displayed by code pointing to flv-player.net. I had some luck adjusting the buffer for playback of a 10 sec piece which runs as the animated logo of my website. However, I don’t see any performance change when adjusting the buffer size for the other videos on my website.

From the internet-page, the level of stutter seems to vary with each playback. This also happens when the movie is fully downloaded to the computer-cache.

Recent tests with flow player gives the same lagging/choppy/stuttering result:

The movie files are converted from H264 to FLV-format. Again, both of these encoded files play great locally. The stuttering starts when watching them from the server via the webpage.

I would be thankful to anybody who can offer some new insight beyond what is suggested above!
