Trouble linking Scene to button in Actionscript 3.0?
on Mar 7, 2012 at 9:26:23 pm

Hello.

I am trying to create a play menu in Flash CS4 in ActionScript 3.0 and I am having so much trouble linking a button to play to the next scene.

I have 5 different scenes in my document. The 1st scene is the menu.

Each layer is separate from one another, and the button has it's own layer.

I have tried linking the button to go to the next scene using this code...

buttoninstancename.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, uniquefunctionname);
function uniquefunctionname(evt:MouseEvent):void {
gotoAndPlay(framenumber, 'scene 2');
}

I have been getting so many syntax errors, and this time I have two.

1120: Access of undefined property framenumber.
1120: Access of undefined property buttoninstancename.

I am so confused, therefore I am new to Flash.

What do I do? This project is due tomorrow! Somebody please help me.

Thank you for your time.

- Justin
