Learning Path

I've just missed out on a great job opportunity due to my lack of knowledge in working with Flash. I'm determined not to let that happen again and have decided it's time I knuckle down and try to crack it.

Could anyone recommend a good learning path and/or series of tutorials for an absolute beginner? I have good knowledge of Photoshop, Premiere and After Effects but will be starting from scratch with Flash.

Thanks in advance for any help anyone can offer.

here's a few to get you started:

1) ActionScript 3.0 by Derrick Ypenburg - Peachpit Press ( Visual Quickstart Guide). A great beginner book.

2) Learning ActionScript 3.0 by Rich Shupe with Zevan Rosser - O'reilly ( Adobe Developer Library)

I still refer to both of them often.

3) Video tutorials here at Creative Cow, Lee Brimelow's at, and the series at

Do some basic video tuorials first to get you started and familiar with Flash and animation. Then the books will make more sense.

Begin to learn and understand Classes and OOP. I know it sounds like a lot now, but it will pay off in the long run.

I'm sure others have good references too
