I am trying to learn flash and I am having a few issues with the Button utility. Basically I have created a number of buttons in Photoshop and have brought them into Flash. I am trying to define a selectable region around the outside of the buttons but it keeps using the original boundng box. I have also tried to do this by using simply vector shapes where I create a circle as the button in the bottom left corner and I place a rectangular hit area in the top right hand corner. When I hover over the circle it still selectable and so is the rectangle in the corner. Basically I don't want the user to be able to select the circle at all. The hit area should only be defined by the rectangle. I am using Flash 8. Any help would greatly be appreciated as this is really starting to annoy me. Thanks.
Ok guys. Nevermind I have figured out. It was so bloody simple and I overlooked it for so long. Basically I was creating a keyframe with the information from the previous keys. I had to insert a blank key to remove everything then create my selectable area. Thanks anyways guys.
You have an instance of your graphic in the Hit box? If that is the case then just the object being in the hit box is going to be your hit area. Remove the picture of the button and just draw the shape you want in the box.
