Exporting an F4v File
on Jan 18, 2010 at 11:01:40 pm

I am working for a business that is looking to add video to their website. The format which they are asking for is an F4v format (flash video 2.0) Apart from purchasing flash and encoding the video that way, are there any programs or other ways to get video (h264) from FCP and convert it to F4V video format?

This is a HUGE part of the process which needs to be solved asap, If buying Flash or Adobe Premier (for the Adobe Encoder) is the only way then so be it. Just thought I would ask for some help!

For quite a while (since version 9.something) the Flash player has been able to play h264 video, which FCP can encode. Have a look at this one ... ... it suggests just changing the file extension.

Btw, Flash video 2.0 ... is that a refugee from web 2.0 ? ! It's a new one to me.

Actually, these days you don't even have to change the file extension. Flash will play .mov and .mp4.
