Text looks not great in Flash CS4 Quicktime Outputs
on Jan 2, 2010 at 7:11:02 pm

Hello,

After MUCH headache, I finally figured out the best way to export my Flash CS3 animated film to Quicktime.

(You can see it here)

However, the next episode in the series was made in CS4, and the output results are not nearly as good, especially where text is concerned.

This is from the old movie (CS3)

This is from the new one (CS4.)

If it doesn't look like a big difference here, it reeeeeeally makes a difference as the file is compressed for DVD etc.

I have TRIED:
-checking the anti-alias property of all the text--results are similar no matter what the setting.
-Outputting at the original size, an even multiple of the original size, and the largest possible size.

My output settings:
Compression: Animation
Framerate: Native
Thousands of Colors
Best quality

Anyone have any ideas?

Oh, I figured it out: CS3 allows you to set the RENDER dimensions to be the same as the output dimensions. CS4 fixes the render dimensions to the document dimensions.

So if your plan is to build small and export big, CS3 is better than 4.
