I created the a flash document with a linked external TXT file. When I publish from Flash it works fine with my text appearing. When I place this Flash file in Dreamweaver 8 and both local or remote publish, the Flash text box appears but the text from the linked Text file does not. All files are in the same directory. Do I need some extra html code in Dreamweaver, other than the placed Flash SWF file, to reference the external .TXT that is referred to in the Flash document?
I am publishing this in a directory under my site for review instead of the root directory of the final location of the web site.
The swf is looking for the txt file in relation to html page its embedded in. So, if your Flash and your txt file are in the same directory and the path in your AS is "text.txt", it works when you publish it in Flash. But you'll have to change the path if the html is outside of that directory. Lets say the txt file is in a directory named "flash" and the html is in the root. You'd use "flash/text.txt" as the path. It will seem not work in your Flash publish preview, but once the swf is embedded in the html it will work.
Thanks for you posts. I must be missing something because in my Dreamweaver root directory are the index.html (page with embedded flash), the SWF file and the menu1.txt all all in the root diretory. I noticed when I published the flash file it created an html file with the following code: I was wondering if the commented out line needs to have some reference to the text file and if so what is the proper format?
