Hi Creative Cow Forum! :) I'm really hoping you can help.
I have created a Flash animation which is basically a blue square with white clouds starting off the stage and then gradually moving from off the stage on the left and moving all the way over the stage area and stopping off the stage on the right.
I want to turn the animation into a movie clip (so I can get different sizes), however, when I select all the frames to copy and then past them as a movie clip, it copies all the animation that it going on OUTSIDE of the stage area, and I only want to copy the animation which is in the stage area.
Does anyone know how to do this or if it's even possible?
If I understand what you're asking, it's similar to highlighting a sentence in MS Word but wanting the computer to only copy words that are three-letters long. When you copy, Flash doesn't have a concept of what's on the stage and what isn't.
You should be able to accomplish what you want with a Mask. Once you've copied the frames into a MovieClip, put a Mask on the top layer and use it to reveal only the on-stage parts.
