ONE FRAME to rule them all!
on Dec 14, 2009 at 3:02:12 am

Hi. I've been having a lot of fun here, and I hope I've been helpful.

I've noticed that many of you are setting up your interactive Flash movies using multiple Timeline frames and gotoAndStops()s or gotoAndPlay()s to hop from frame-to-frame.

While that works, it makes your files hard to debug and maintain. It makes it hard for me to help you sometimes, because I don't know what code you have hiding on various plays.

It's much better to set up your file so you're only coding on one frame. Since this may be a new concept for some of you, I've created a tutorial to show you how.

You'll want to watch it fullscreen in order to see the code.

The tutorial is here: http://www.vimeo.com/8162372

You can download the files here: http://www.grumblebee.com/stuff/cow/oneFrame.zip.
