want a line to show up where a symbol tweened
on Nov 28, 2009 at 11:52:50 pm

I am creating a flash file of chess pieces moving on a board. I would like to have the path of the pieces to show up as they move so students can remember what moves were made.

I would prefer an arrow to show up at the end indicating directionality - but that's not necessary.

I have CS4 - and I am just a novice. I cannot edit code...YET. :)

Any assistance would be appreciated.

You will have to learn to edit code, I'm afraid -- or find a coder to help you.

Actionscript has line-drawing commands, which would make what you want to do relatively easy, assuming you can access the start and end positions of the chess pieces (which you can, via Actionscript).

The code would look something like this:

var pathCanvas : MovieClip = new MovieClip();
var lineThickness : int = 4;
var lineColor : uint = 0xFF0000; //red lineThickness, lineColor ); chessPieceStartX, chessPieceStartY ); chessPieceEndX, chessPieceEndY );
