Flash Newbie Timeline control
on Nov 24, 2009 at 3:01:23 pm

I'm brand new to flash and experimenting with button controls using the script assist. I've learned the goto and stop and go to and play features... but I'm making a child's story book into a flash animation and would like button presses to play through to the next set keyframe and then stop until the next button press. Any suggestions?

the answer would depend on how you have your file set up. i will assume that you are doing it just as a straight ahead timeline based animation and story line.

if so, then one simple approach would be to have your advance button on its own separate layer.
then on another "actions layer" sript your button to just play play();

as long as there is a stop action stop(); on every keyframe, then you will navigate through your story line as you are suggesting.

does that make sense?
