FLV video overlay question
on Sep 29, 2009 at 3:32:16 pm

I have a FLV video I shot, but at the end of the video, I have a phone number embedded in the movie on the screen.

I simply want to overlay a flash layer to replace the phone number... is that possible in flash? Just take the flv file into the timeline and lay the graphic over the screen? If so how?

I have CS4

thanks!

Inside your swf file that calls your flv, you could make a layer with an object on it that shows what you want to show. Set its _visible property to false. Then you have to detect when the flv has stopped playing, and change the _visible property to true when the flv has stopped. The link http://www.wildform.com/support/tutorials/loopingFLVs/ might help you.

Thanks for your kind response... but the phone number appears and remails on the screen 20 seconds BEFORE the end of the video, so I'm not sure your method would work...

Any other ideas?

Add a cuepoint to the FLV, either while encoding or via actionscript, then write a function that either makes the layer visible or plays it or whatever you want to do.

Example in AS3:
phone_mc.visible=false;
myFLV.addASCuePoint(26.5, "phone"); //add AS cue point (time, name)
myFLV.addEventListener(MetadataEvent.CUE_POINT, showPhone);
function showPhone(eventObject:MetadataEvent):void {
if(eventObject.info.name == "phone"){
phone_mc.visible=true;
}
};
