new URLRequest from XML
on Aug 25, 2009 at 1:37:21 pm

I'm trying to pass XML data into a URLRequest. The link is to a file in the same directory as the Flash file, and the idea is that I want to be able to reference a different file without having to re-export the Flash (by changing the XML, the SWF should automatically update).

My problem is that when I try to pass in the Variable that references the URL inside the XML, I get one of these two errors, depending on how I try to pass it in:

Error #2044: Unhandled IOErrorEvent:. text=Error #2035: URL Not Found.

or

TypeError: Error #2007: Parameter url must be non-null.

If I put the Variable in quotation marks, I get #2044. If I remove the quotation marks, I get #2007.

Several other places in my ActionScript (which is 3.0), I use the same technique of replacing data with an XML variable and it works just fine. The only difference I can see is that this time I'm trying to replace a URL instead of just Sting data or Number data.

Any ideas?

ps- Would it be helpful for me to post the code, or is there a really obvious, general, rookie mistake I'm making that you don't even need to see the code to know what I'm doing wrong?
