shared objects

Forgive me in advance, I'm a novice actionscripter.

I have a project composed of lots of .flv videos, one component on each frame in the timeline. When a user finishes watching one, a button appears, and they can move onto the next frame.

I need to script it in a way that they can close the presentation and come back, and it will automatically remember the most recent frame in the timeline they entered (but not necessarily the location in the individual .flv that happens to be at that frame.)

I know this means I need shared objects, but I'm confused on how to actually write the code... I have a few pieces, but there's probably holes.

For the saving function:
What should my eventlistener be listening for?
Would I need the code on every frame?

???.addEventListener(???, saveLocation);

function saveLocation(evtobj:???):void{

var so:SharedObject = SharedObject.getLocal("1GvidData");
so.data.??? = ???;
so.flush();
}

For the retrieving function:
Would I only need a get location function on frame 1?
What is it listening for?

???.addEventListener(???, getLocation);

function getLocation(evtobj:MouseEvent):void{

var so:SharedObject = SharedObject.getLocal("1GvidData");
??? = so.data.???

}

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
