Showing a video in HTML but with NO skin
on Jul 30, 2009 at 5:47:00 pm

Hi - Not even sure this is the right forum but wondering if anyone knows how to show a Flash video without any skin on an html page? I'm a videographer and use Dreamweaver 8 just to post Flash review videos for my clients. But now I'm trying to design a page for myself that will automatically play the Flash .flv file but have no "skin" around it - and no controls. Any thoughts appreciated.. thanks.

I think if you just leave the skin file out of the referencing folder, it might work.

Joey - I figured out a method. I know nothing about the Flash application (I just make videos and turn them into Flash .flv files for my customers.) But I know the video won't play unless the folder contains the .flv file, and two .swf files, in my case (creating them with Dreamweaver) a doc called FLVPlayer_Progressive.swf and another, the skin, in my case called Clear_Skin_1.swf.

I opened Flash, created a project, found I had to create a document to get any work done, looked into the Publish Settings->HTML and unchecked "Loop" - then exported a completely empty .swf file. I renamed it Clear_Skin_1.swf, swapped it for the one I had been using (with its playback controls) and Oila! It played the movie in the html page once, seamlessly.

By using a background in my video the same color as the area on the html page surrounding the video, the video blended with the page seamlessly.

I have the same issue, trying to remove the control from my flv's.
Any chance you could post a link to the blank swf so I could download? saves me purchasing Flash. You can see the videos in question at... http://www.wasterecyclingservices.co.uk Thanks in anticipation of your assistance guys!!

Sure thing Steve - You can obtain the file at 351_clearskin1.swf.zip

or send an email to me: dennis@deangroup.com and I'll email the file to you.
