[AS2] - Can a button close the swf/exe?
on Apr 28, 2009 at 11:05:59 am

A client has asked me this, and I know I've seen it before, but unsure how to make it happen.

At the end of a presentation there's a button that needs to close the swf and open Explorer (Windows Only) to the root of the CD.
I've found this
http://www.flashkit.com/tutorials/Projector/Batch_Fi-William_-45/index.php
but get stuck on step 4.

Unfortunately, their source files are in AS2, so I will only be able to use Flash 8 compatible code.

Many thanks in advance.

Not sure...

fscommand("exec", "c:windowsexplorer.exe")
fscommand("quit");

That should go some way to solving your problem, unfortunately I don't know how to open a specific folder... I suppose you could write a .bat file and just open that :)

Then it woud be:
fscommand("exec", "myApp.bat");
fscommand("quit");

This would go in your your .bat file:
%SystemRoot%explorer.exe "folder path"

But then you'd still need to figure out which folder you need to browse to of course...

Kind regards,
Pieter

General notice: from now on, I would like to ask everyone to put [AS2] or [AS3] (corresponding to the version of actionscript you are using on your project) in front of their post titles when the question is actionscript related! Please help us help you faster. Thank you.
