I'm Creating a web banner (700 X 125) for a project in my class and the exported .swf file needs to be max 30kb. I want to have a fair few images in it, like in the left hand side theres going to be a little collage of images piling up so they have to be .png files so they have transparent backgrounds.. if i'm right?
ive imported about half the images in to the library and put them on the stage (no animation yet) and the .swf file is already 28kb's.
Any tips that you guys have to make things small with out loosing a whole heap of quality?
Use 8-bit PNG's instead of 24-bit. That will help a little, alpha channels add almost a third more overhead to assets. Also, try to use Photoshop's Save for Web & Devices... instead of allowing Flash to do the extra compression.
