Image before movie plays
on Jan 20, 2009 at 1:08:39 am

Hello,

I looked all over the net for an answer to my question.

I have a movie that I have embedded into my website with adobe dreamweaver. It has a skin with a play/pause button etc. My problem is, I want the movies screen to be at a certain spot within the movie, like a still screen shot of the movie.

Then once the viewer clicks play, I want the movie to start from the beginning. Its something like Youtube, where you can choose a still frame to show before the movie is played.

Does anybody know how to do that with an FLV file?

Thanks.

Get a freeze frame shot of the video you want displayed. Import it to flash. Make it a button with AS launching the video. Does that make sense?

In your NLE, put your curser at the frame you want and export a still image (FCP does it this way). Save it as a jpg and then add a flash var to your code like this:

src="http://www.mckinneyontheweb.com/mcwflv/player.swf"
width="512"
height="323"
bgcolor="undefined"
allowscriptaccess="always"
allowfullscreen="true"
flashvars="file=http://www.mckinneyontheweb.com/mcwflv/Hanks.flv&image=http://www.mckinneyontheweb.com/mcwflv/Hanks.jpg&skin=http://www.mckinneyontheweb.com/mcwflv/fashion.swf"
/>

The jpg becomes the initial image and then when you click the video, it plays from the beginning.

Jeff
