Missing Fonts in Flash CS4
on Jan 10, 2009 at 6:24:07 am

I am using Flash CS4 Pro (Web) to take over maintaining my own flash-based website. When I opened it in Flash, I immediately got a message listing a number of fonts that are missing and that Flash would substitute and publish a default font in lieu of those already in the website. Fearful, I closed without saving.

Where do I acquire these fonts: Futura, Helios, Helvetica, Pristina, Standard and Tahoma?

Once I get them, how do I load them into Flash?

Any help appreciated!

Scott H.

These are all commercial fonts. (Tahoma, Helvetica and Futura should come with Windows OS though) You'll either have to buy them or have the person who made the Flash file send 'em to you.

Once you have them, install them in your Operating system and re-open flash.

Kind regards,

General notice: from now on, I would like to ask everyone to put [AS2] or [AS3] (corresponding to the version of actionscript you are using on your project) in front of their post titles when the question is actionscript related! Please help us help you faster. Thank you.

If you have these fonts installed you can click the "Substitute" drop-down box and select the appropriate font from the list.

Yes, it is a workaround and you will still get the "Font Mapping" popup each time you run Flash CS4 but it works and once you do it the first time you just have to click "OK" when it pops up.
