I'm having a problem with audio sync in Flash animations. With files created in Flash MX (6) on an Intel iMac, if I open them in Flash CS4 they seem fine until I try to export a Quicktime. The video is noticeably lagging behind the sound in animations that had synced fine on the iMac.
Are there any issues with files from older Flash versions acting this way? Before I start spending a lot of time trying different export options, is there one that works best at preserving the audio sync?
I haven't had time to create even a quick test file of a new from scratch project to see if they work better, but it's making animations that worked well previously look shabby now, and since it doesn't happen until the export movie, I don't know how I'd adjust it.
Funny that a new Mac Pro running the newest Flash can't do what a 7 year old version on a three year old iMac has no problem with. I've tried a couple different export options (H.264, Animation) but the off sync stays the same.
Of course it's not that funny, since a big part of the investment in a new computer and software was to get better performance then I had before. I'll keep working on it myself, but if someone knows the right direction here a push wouldn't hurt.
Another D.O.A topic? I guess there's a lot of trial and error testing in my future. Or a whole annoying workaround involving
moving the entire Flash clip's sound in editing.
It's kind of a big, sloppy waste of time, though, compared to being able to take a Quicktime straight out of Flash and bring it into Final Cut and continue moving forward. The delay is nearly a full second, totally destroying the lip sync I worked carefully on.
I'll keep checking, but usually if a post doesn't get a response in a day or two, it goes straight into the "unanswered zone". And unless I decide to try to bring back the silent era, this is a progress halting bug that completely underminds any attempt to upgrade my Flash. Good thing I didn't shell out the full $699 just to get Flash alone.
Just trying to keep this topic on life support in the hopes it may someday get a helpful response. This issue is really ruining any good feeling I had about getting the Production Premium package. Flash was an important part of the package and it's a severe letdown that it can't handle maintaining sync. I've gotten pretty good at setting lip syncing, but this makes it look like I didn't even try.
What's the magic codec or file format to use, or is quicktime exporting officially broken now?
Forgive the dramatics, but I am pulling hair and grinding teeth over this. There's just no excuse for the latest version on a brand new Pro to behave this way.
