Inverted Mask
on Oct 30, 2008 at 2:57:32 pm

Hi,

Im sure Im missing something simple as Im new to Flash... I created a shape with the pen tool to use as a mask. For some reason when I turn the layer into a mask it is masking out the opposite of what I would expect. How can I invert it?

Thanks in advance.

The mask should be a fill, not an outline. In other words, a solid shape as opposed to an outline.

Thanks for your response Sam. It is a solid shape I created with the pen tool and fill. The stroke is off...
It worked correctly (cutting a hole in the jpeg blow it where the "fill" was) until I turned the layer off and on a couple of times. Now its masking the opposite "inverted" which makes me think I switched an option someplace.

Best,
Steve G

Did you accidentally flip-flop the layers? Your mask layer should be above the to-be-masked layer, which should also be "inset" to show it is being masked.

I double checked and the layers are in the correct order... Still having the issue.

Thanks,

Try locking the layers. Is it not showing correctly when you test, or just on the stage?
