Hey All,

Ok here is my problem. I built a site using Flash. I have about 6 hour long videos.
The problem is that when someone goes to my site and starts playing the video
1) On most occasions it takes a long time to play
2) While playing the video stops and the whole site jams up

Each of my video flv flies are about 300mb. Is this too big?
I'm using Actionscript 3, no XML and the video clips aren't embedded.
Can someone tell me a better way to encode my videos so the file size is
Or is it better if I use them as an XML?

The site in question is: http;//

300 mb files are large. Although flash does handle large files well even with progressive download, there are soooo many different factors to consider including what server is hosting the video, the speed of the end user and machine. By default i believe flash wants to download 10% of the video before it will play. So with a 300 mb file, that is 30mb. That is a seriously large amount of information especially with a slow connection. using a flash media server may be the best option. They do have a "test" version that you can install on a server for testing purposes, but you cant have more than 10 users accessing your file simultaneously. Hope this helps.
