Flash Bitmap Fill
on Aug 26, 2008 at 10:59:55 pm

Could someone please help out a noob.

I have plans to make a website that looks like its made from cardstock and paper textures.

I planned to use tile-able bitmaps to create the textures by setting it as a fill for my shapes. My question is;

Will using a small bitmap as a fill add greatly to a file size?
Or will Flash treat said bitmap as a symbol when it tiles?

I want to use this many times in the site so you can see how it would add up.

Thanks for your help.
MM

Bitmap fill only uses the one image, so it doesn't add to the file size, -however- if you're gonna be creating a fullscreen flash site, complicated bitmap fills do tend to slow down the animation (tweens) a little. At least, that's my opinion in the matter.

Kind regards,
Pieter

General notice: from now on, I would like to ask everyone to put [AS2] or [AS3] (corresponding to the version of actionscript you are using on your project) in front of their post titles when the question is actionscript related! Please help us help you faster. Thank you.
