stopping functions
on Mar 11, 2008 at 12:51:51 am

I'm looking for help on stopping functions from completing when you push another button.

I have a button that runs a function that loads images via xml. But it plays an animation first then loads thumbnails into an empty movie clip using setInterval. Once loaded you click on the thumbnails to load large image into another empty mc.
If i navigate to another page before the thumbnails load, they will appear in the background.
I can clear them if they are loaded but not before.

any suggestions would be appreciated

Sounds like you just need to manage your code a little tighter.

You could do something like this
Anytime you nagivate to a section call a clean up function. In the cleanup function you will wanna cancel any XML loading, and clean and movieclip loaders.

I usually cancel a MC loader by removing the Movieclip I am loading into. I don't remember but this might trigger the MC Loader error handler...
