viewing counter for flash movie?
on Feb 28, 2008 at 4:21:02 pm

Hello all,

I was curious as to if there is a way to add a counter that tells you how many times your flash video has been viewed. It's the same kind of thing they do on youtube and myspace, but I don' like to us those. I'd rather post my own video online using flash. So, for instance, if someone goes to my website, http://www.freakdaddyproductions.com, and watches my short video on there, how could I keep track?

I know that I could track how many views my actual site, but I'm planning on adding more videos, so I'd like to track each one.

Any ideas?

Thanks
-ryan

There's probably cleaner ways of doing this, since Flash has diverted their focus in exactly this direction (video applications), but they way I would do it, is just send a variable to a serverside script (php, asp, ...) using sendAndLoad.

Have a look at Loadvars in the AS dictionary.

Kind regards,
Pieter
