Animating text
on Feb 5, 2008 at 11:45:20 pm

Hi, I would like to know how it is possible to animate text to follow a path like for example make text look like it's swirling down a drain. If anyone knows of any tutorials regarding this or can offer any help, that would be great. Thanks!
Vanessa

Are you familiar with using motion paths?
If so, it is the same process, just be sure to convert the text into a symbol first.

Yes motion paths would be the way to do it. It depends on how fancy you want to get... But say really fancy and with letters rotating. First break apart your text in symbols. You can split each word or each letter into a MC. right click the layer> add motion guide. Make sure your anchor points are towards the bottom of the letter or word. They will roatate around that point. Draw a line on the motion guide layer in the path you want it to move along. Make keyframes putting the anchor point on frame 1 at the first side of the motion guide to lock it onto the path. Later in the timeline make a new keyframe and put the anchor point of the text at the end of the line. Now tween that. Its not rotating you say? just go along every few keyframes or at the curves after you set the tween. Create a new keyframe and rotate it in the right direction. And there you have it ;) Hope that helped.
