Flash, QT Conversion and Dual Pass
on Jan 21, 2008 at 5:25:52 pm

Hello,
I am using the 30 day trial version of Flash CS 3 to encode video for our website. I am editing on FCP 6.0.2 Studio 2 on a Mac Pro OS X.

I am exporting using QT Conversion, choosing the .flv option and have tried both Sorenson Spark and On2.

My question is....Is there a way to set up a Dual pass option? I can only get single pass and it doesn't seem to look as good as when we used a different program. I have tried the highest quality of both.

My goal is to be able to continue using QT conversion and not have to take the extra step of using Compressor (not to mention the extra time).

Any help and guidance is greatly appreciated.

Posted same question on the FCP forum.

Hello Matt,

You would need the On2 vp6 encoder which connects to the Adobe Flash Encoder to enable you the (two pass) Flash encode which you require.

Thanks,

Thanks for the lead Leo. I was hoping that I was just missing a setting somewhere and wouldn't have to spend more money. Silly me.

Now off to talk with the folks in accounting.......wish me luck.
