Changing colour of text and adding a link
on Jan 19, 2008 at 10:43:18 am

I am trying to create a website. I have some text in a flash text box I created. I want some of it to be green and some of it white. If I try to change the colour of highlighted text it changes all of it. Is there a way to do this?

Also - can I add a link to another area of my website (and a external site) in flash text - as clickable text?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

this is possible. You have to render your text as HTML and then attach a css stylesheet.

Have a look at this article at actionscript.org.
The example also includes a clickable text link.

Kind regards,
Pieter

Actually you have a textfield of type static and that is why when you apply a different color to selected portion it changes the color of the whole textfield.

Just change the textfield type to dynamic in the properties panel and it should work and changing the textfiedl from static to dynamic will also enable you to select a portfolio of text and then set an external url in the URL field in the properties panel.

I just tried that Sher, that does seem to work as well. Didn't know that. :D

You will however, have to enable the 'Render as HTML' option on the textfield as well. Just setting it to Dynamic textfield doesn't work.

Kind regards,
Pieter

Make your textfield dynamic and in the Properties panel toggle on Render as HTML

Kind regards,

Amazing! Works like a dream Thank you!

If I add a link to some text can I browse for a page on my site, or do I have to type the address in manually? I tried this with an external site (http://www.bbc.co.uk) and it didn't work.

Am I doing something wrong?

Really sorry about this guys. I am a total flash newbie. I really appreciate this.
