unload movie

Followed the flash help guide to attach a movie clip
script as follows:

attachMovie_btn.onRelease = function(){
this._parent.attachMovie("MCTrio", "trio_mc", 1);
trio_mc._x = 275;
trio_mc._y = 200;
};

works great. The tutorial now guides you to unload the movie as follows:

goScene_btn.onRelease = function() {
gotoAndStop("Scene 2", 1);
unloadMovie("trio_mc");
};

My problem is I need a way to remove the movie clip from the Stage and stay in scene 1.

Changing scene 2 to 1 seems logical in the above script, but it doesn't work. another factor, I would like to keep the close button in the loaded movieclip

any ideas?

Thanks Brian

remove the Scene 2 altogether. So just put gotoAndStop(1); that will gotoAndStop in the first frame of the scene that you're in.

You'll need to run that 'close button' problem by me again, because I'm having trouble grasping that. :)

thanks for the insight. as far as the button confusion, can I place the unloadmovie button on the attached movie "MCTrio" or does it have to be placed on the main stage.

All im looking to do is zoom up on selected items on a corkboard so when you click on the item a movie clip of that item appears front and center over the corkboard. then, I would like the viewer to click on some close button attached to the zoomed item to make it dissappear and view the corkboard again.

hope that clears thing up a bit,
Brian

So the close button is inside the movieclip you wish to unload? Try placing a _parent.removeMovieClip() in the on(release) of the button :)

If your still there, this is what I have and it's not working
In scene 1 I have this script to load the movie:

attachMovie_btn.onRelease = function(){
this._parent.attachMovie("MCTrio", "trio_mc", 1);
trio_mc._x = 275;
trio_mc._y = 200;
};

and on a close button on the loaded MC i have

on (release) {
_parent.removeMovieClip("MCTrio");
}

What am I missing?
Thanks in advance
Brian
