Flash Clickable Link without Java
on Aug 31, 2007 at 2:17:14 pm

I am running Flash CS3 on a Mac and
I have a flash animation that contains a button which serves as a clickable link using the code.

on (release) {
getURL("http://www.jdbank.com/", "_parent");
}

Now when I publish the final product Flash generates HTML that includes a Javascript named AC_RunActiveContent.js

is there a way that I can have this flash work without the need for Java and still be browser compatable.

No, I'm sorry... You either need SWF Object or AC_RunActiveContent.js for it to be completely browser compatible. This is because Internet Explorer has a sort of security installed that prevents Flash content from being played without the user's consent.

Why do you want it without JS? You can edit the .html file and take out any reference to RunActiveContent or just revert to the old -tag approach.

I don't want java becaue IE6 is blocking that as well.
