Creating a Transparency in Flash
on Apr 17, 2007 at 12:50:58 pm

Greetings all,

First time poster to this forum and video guy from way back.

We're doing more "video-for-the-web" in our line of work and our client has asked that we provide a clip containing a single human subject talking to the web user. They want this as some kind of transparency so the subject can be place "over" various portions of the web page.

Our traditional editing software (Avid) doesn't seem to be able to accomplish this, so I'm wondering if this is possible in flash to create this kind of file?

Hope this is clear enough and thanks for your consideration!

The Flash Pro 8 video encoder will handle alpha channels in video
files. You just have to select the box when converting the file to
the flv format.

You still have to shoot the subject either against a green/blue screen
and key that out somewhere..ie After Effects for example but once you
have a file with an alpha, Flash will recognize it.
