Simple page links......buttons
on Apr 11, 2007 at 12:25:15 am

I need to make a page that I created in Flash to have simple links to other documents that open in their own window. The links will be from a rectangle that can be made into a symbol. What I dont know is:

A. How to link the file to the button
B. How to have the file open in its own window
C. What types of files can be linked from a cd (the files all reside on the same cd)

Thanks, the Newbie

Let's say the button/rectangle on the stage is called RedBall.

Give the instance name of RedBall to the instance of the movie clip.

On an actions layer of the main timeline, enter this

_root.RedBall.onRelease = function() {
getURL ("'file.pdf','newWin','width=475,height=290,left=0,top=0,toolbar=No,location=No,scrollbars=No,status=No,resizable=No,fullscreen=No, status=0, toolbar=0, location=0, resizeable=0'); NewWindow.focus(); void(0);");

You can also use absolute urls (w/the full instead of just file.pdf but off a cd it's easier to just put the name of the file.
