how to create "enemies" in "jungle world" tiles based game
on Feb 5, 2007 at 5:06:18 pm

Help! I am trying to add enemies to a side scroll tile based game ("Mario Style") and I am having difficulty. I can create a movie clip for my enemy but it just stays in the same position on screen as the player moves. The enemy needs to be "in the game world" but I can't figure it out. How do I tell the movie clip "enemy" to be independant of everything else but I also need the enemy to react to hitting walls and the player. I am working with Glen Rhodes book, "Macromedia Flash Professional 8 Game Development," Chapter 12 "Jungle Adventure." Can someone please help?

When I make games, the MovieClip structure goes something like this:

_root.HUD.Maps, etc

So your script would move the gameWorld and Hero at the same time (in opposite directions) and the walls, enemies and other stuff all move together with one line of code.
