Ads at the beginning of flash movies
on Nov 18, 2006 at 9:30:51 pm

Does anyone know how they program those short video ads that appear just before the main video content is played.
I've encoded a clients video ad at the head of my flash movies but if I want to substitute his ad with someone elses or don't want any ads to appear at all, I have to go back in and create a whole new flash movie..very time consuming

a lot of ways are there to achieve that, but here is basic idea
set up two variables in html page one for the ad video and one for the actual video and access them in your .swf file. Use the NetStream.onStatus method as

...
...
ad_video = unescape(_root.adVideo);
actual_video = unescape(_root.actualVideo);

ns.play(ad_video);
ns.onStatus = function(info) {
if(info.code == "NetStream.Play.Stop") {
ns.play(actual_video);
}
}
...
...

Thank you so much for your input
What is this type of back to back video called?
I've been using Dreamweaver to design my site and I'm not the greatest at coding.
Here is what I was trying to do (this is one long flash video clip)
that?http://www.thaifoodtonight.com/thaifoodtonight/recipes-StirFriedMungBeans.html
I undertand that I need to break it into two but what do I do after that?
If it's too involved to explain is there a tutorial on it somewhere.
Thanks so much
