Some functionality lost when viewing Flash files through ISAserver
on Sep 15, 2006 at 9:29:50 am

Wondering if someone can point me in the right direction here. We run an extensive intranet, with a number of flash menus, some linking to network files.

I've now encountered two problems with possibly the same cause. In both instances, Flash player 8 runs fine in Internet Explorer from local drives and a mapped version of our intranet. However, when viewed through our ISAserver, we lse functionality.

In the first instance, Flash is picking up an RSS feed.
In the second case, Flash is needed to open a folder on a shared network drive.

Has anyone encountered this before? Is it fixable, or are we doomed to return to plain html?

As an update, it turns out that Flash won't access feeds or files across domains. For some reason, Macromedia (I know I should say Adobe, but can't get used to it :) ) allow this functionality in the development panel, but it is blocked once the file is viewed across a server. Time for me to dig out the php books.
