News ticker box
on Aug 16, 2006 at 1:52:26 pm

I'm looking to create a news box that has an animated vertical scroll. I would like for it to access a separate document for the content so I can change the text easily. Does anyone know of a tutorial for this? It would be great if it also allows for change in font, color, timing, etc. Any help is appreciated as always.

Flash has a text box in its components library. Create a movie clip, inside that put the text box, the settings of which will point to a text file.

Then key frame the text box to move from bottom to top.

V quick and simple news scroller. Do a google search for something like:

flash text import

for how to achieve the more complicated things, there's loads of tutorials out there.

Or, search for "Newsmaker Java applet" it's a freebie from somewhere. Though it's not Flash, it's a pretty capable and stable applet that allows quite a bit of customization.
