I created a simple preloader in an existing project. when i test the size in the Bandwidth Profiler it shows to be 64K! Its just a text animation and a background. When I recreated the same in a new project it was only 4k. So Why is it so big in the main project? More to the point, what and where are those hidden things and how do I get rid of them? The only thing I can think of is that at some point I clicked on embed font. It was only for upper case lower case numbers and punctuation. If that's it how do you unembed fonts?
Click on your dynamic or input text box, then click on the "Embed..." button. In there you will see a button that says "Don't Embed" click that and you should be all set. You will also need to do this for EVERY dyanamic or input text box in your project.
And yes, there is often a significant size difference between using the built in componenets and making your own, mostly because the ones you make your own will be just set up the way you want with the features you need. The components are set up to support a wide number of features you will probably never use, and the ability to skin them adds a good bit to it also.
I'm filling a need. Without me there would be no bad examples.
